Google has started to display PPC Adwords text ads on image searches for Google.
This is a reversal from their position in 2006, when they estimated that it could earn US$80-200 million a year by including text ads in Image Search but decided not to do it because their experiments showed that people used the service less as a result. Google have stated that more commercially-oriented searches are now being performed for images and therefore feel that the monetisation of these pages are now justified.
