I’ve just been working with one of my clients on their blog and on trying to resolve an issue with their blog stream on the homepage of their website, discovered that the RSS feeds within Blogger are broken and being published as completely empty files.
If you run a blog on Blogger and publish a blog post today beware that the RSS/Atom feed for your blog will publish to the site as a 0KB file. Blogger does not give an error code when you publish your blog, so everything will look fine when you get a publish report from Blogger, but if you check the file in your browser or FTP client, it will show as a file with nothing in it.
This is not great if people follow your blog (or another Blogger blog) using a feed reader such as Google Reader or Bloglines. This issue is also a problem for the Search engine optimisation of your blog, particularly if you use blog/rss directories to publicise your blog.
Hoping Google will resolve this issue soon, as blogs are an important part of SEO, helping to increase rankings and providing Google with fresh new content.
