Converting your website visitors - Trust
Tue, 14 Oct 2008 09:19:08 by Emily Mace

Following my blogs on conversion I thought it was important to discuss trust. It's one thing getting people onto your website but another, altogether, to get them to buy from you.

Trust is an important element of getting your visitors to part with their money, so having a good SEO strategy is not everything when trying to make the sale.

Make sure your website has a privacy policy, a detailed terms and conditions page, clear and easy to understand shipping and returns information and an about us page.

Having information about your company is important for building trust, as your visitor will know how long you've been running and what your aims as a company are. Having the purpose and goals of the company clear to see for your visitors will also help with giving them a feeling of connection with you as a company, that you meet and agree with standards they have in their life, such as a commitment to the environment or your committed customer service program, where people can call you, with any questions.

Testimonials will also help with the process of building trust with your visitors, providing a selection of customer comments on your products and services will help your visitors see that they aren't your first customer, that your service is good and that the level of satisfaction from previous visitors is high. Remember, a lot of business comes from word of mouth, so if your visitor hasn't heard of you yet, but has come to your site, giving them visibility of some of your other customers will help them take the step from interest to sale!

Take time to talk about the benefits of your products, as well as the features, talk about what improvements to life, or health or business, each product will offer your customer. With the internet growing in usage all the time people are looking for Value, but value is more than just a cut price, is about psychological value. So make mention of how using the product will help your customers, from the comfort of your beds, to the reliability of your laptops, it all helps to make the sale.
