Do our business in the light of day

21st January 2009 by Matt Hopkins

Yesterday marked the end of an error [sic].  What a long eight years..  Watching the inauguration of President Obama and his subsequent speech was a truly inspirational experience.

There was a line in his speech that hit home for me – considering the recent events in the banking and finance industry:

And those of us who manage the public’s dollars will be held to account – to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day – because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Although he was specifically referring to government in his speech, I can’t help but feel that this was meant as an example for business and business leaders too.  Greed, unethical business practices, lack of honesty andtransparency are not just limited to the finance sector either.. these problems exist throughout business today and in particular in the marketing industry (and with it, search engine marketing).

“Do our business in the light of day”

These are words totally fit our approach at Vertical Leap.. and it really hit a chord with me; I hope it did with you too.
