Google Toolbar Page Rank Update is Now Regular

Back in January, I predicted that Page Rank would update at the end of March. It appears that I was a few days out as it actually occurred on the 1/2nd April…

Across our clients, not many have changed page rank (which is in contrast to their SEO results, which have improved). As we have said before, Page Rank is an imperfect measure.

We know that Page Rank is not going to go away any time soon and it is something that we keep a record of, but as an SEO metric, it is just one of many that you should use to measure. I’ve written before that it is a good indicator for us before we start an SEO project of how easy it may be to get results.

In fact it is in some ways surprising that we see many changes at all – or don’t see more sites going down in Page Rank. After all, page rank is partly affected by the size of the internet – and that is increasing massively all the time. On the other hand, the sites that I monitor are generally those doing active SEO, and that probably combats that effect by proactively increasing the number of links to a site.
