Google Webmaster Tools Redesign
13th May 2009 by Kerry Dye
Following their recent survey of Webmaster Tools users Google have revamped the interface for Google Webmaster Tools.
The former Google Sitemaps has come a long way since 2005, and is now a really useful resource for diagnosing problems with Google listings. If I don’t have access to Google Webmaster Tools for a site it feels a bit like feeling your way to a conclusion in the dark, or having one hand tied behind your back.
Their last reorganisation was back in December when they just moved a few options around, creating the Settings area, which has now moved under the Site configuration option.
They have added a few extra features at the same time, but most of the changes are actually to the information architecture and the look and feel. The old interface will remain the default for the next few weeks, but the change will go live for everyone shortly.
