Google improve related search suggestions

Google have released an improved version of their related search suggestions.

When performing a search on Google you are offered a selection of alternative search terms from the Google database. These search terms appear at the bottom of the first search results page and link through to the search results page for each of the terms suggested.

The new search facility is dynamic meaning that the suggested keywords are fresher and more appropriate for the needs of web searchers.

These suggested search terms aren't available for every search performed on Google but where they are available it tends to be where the search phrase has other popular search terms related to it. These suggestions are designed to make searching the web quicker and helping people refine their search to find exactly what they are looking for more easily.

In terms of managing your website these suggested search terms are a great way of researching other areas where you can promote your services and show you some of the terms that are commonly being searched on with Google. Although this doesn't replace complete keyword research this is a great tool for getting a quick snap shot of some terms you might want to consider optimising your site on and for the process of choosing keywords for commercial intent. It is also useful to follow these links to see if your site ranks as highly for these terms as the original search query.

If you are working with an SEO company suggest some of the appropriate keywords for them to research for you in terms of the potential success value to your site.

Google have been changing things on their service recently, including the improvements to Google Trends and the recent deal with Yahoo! - this improved search suggestion improvement is another way your website can benefit from Google.
