MSN Adcenter Adds Additional Ad Above Organic Results

MSN Adcenter are planning to add an additional Pay per Click spot in top sponsored listings above the organic listings. The idea is to give advertisers with lower budgets a better chance of gaining more exposure.

I can’t really see many beneficial reasons as to why MSN are doing this apart from being different from Google and Yahoo. Adwords currently has 2-3 Pay per Click spots as does Yahoo’s Panama system.

The new MSN additional sponsored listing has been active in the US since September last year but no one has really shouted about the impact this change has had. This just seems to be another push for MSN to step up to their rivals. I think MSN need to come up with something better than this if they ever want to lead the Pay per Click market.
