It is so difficult for some businesses to remain positive in these times of economic downturn. I would like to offer a glimmer of hope to those of you that are feeling the pinch right now, as for sure, things will get better. I know, I have worked through 3 ‘recessions’ in my time and have seen the hard times and the good times that follow – feeling the pain then the relief along with my customers. Here’s a bit of advice, in my experience NEVER stop advertising – use it as a massive opportunity to gain headway above your competition. Remember why you advertised in the first place…was it because you had a new product? Because your competition did so you had to as well? Think outside the box and figure out how to adapt to the hard times and stay in the public eye – as I can safely say those who keep advertising are strong when the spending begins again.
When looking at shrinking sales and turnover its understandable the first thing that may be cut from a companies overheads is advertising, as more often than not it is very difficult to justify a spend on something that may not prove to give a return on investment immediately, if at all.
It’s a great time to spend money on SEO (of course I am going to say that) but the fact is, whilst others are stopping spend on something that may not show an instant ROI and dropping rankings meanwhile you could be climbing those ranks of the search engines to be top of the tree when people do start spending money again and cashing in, rather than having to start from scratch. It makes sense!
