Mobile phone search heating up - Yahoo introduces OneSearch
Tue, 20 Mar 2007 09:52:37 by Matt Hopkins

I just watched an interesting screencast introduction to Yahoo’s new OneSearch technology - http://h.yimg.com/download.yahoo.com/dl/yodel/onesearch/yahoo.swf.

It looks like a great implementation and they are really considering the mobile phone user and his specific needs - rather than simply delivering "web search" on a mobile phone.

The main difference is that when you are on your mobile phone, you do not want to necessarily view web pages that are designed for a PC (endless amounts of frustration with that issue).  You are typically looking for a phone number, location information, product information or perhaps news.   This is where Yahoo is trying to focus with this new product and from the demo, it looks like it hits the mark.
