Whilst quoting for SEO services to a potential customer I have come up against another SEO Company who claim to offer the ‘same service as Vertical Leap’ for as low as £35 per month. (Again)
This is a horrible situation for anyone looking to embark on a long term SEO campaign with a potential 3rd party supplier.
How can the customer know the difference when said companies blatantly claim a top 3 position in Google is achievable for the same costs that I personally pay my house cleaner each week!
These companies ‘might’ get a couple of keywords on the first page of Google, but what does that really mean? Does it mean more traffic to your site? Is that traffic qualified? Do you get more business from that traffic? In my experience the answer in NO.
A ranking is a means to an end, a ranking without any of the above is worthless. What do these £35 a month companies do when they have gained a ranking for you? The answer is usually nothing apart from maybe send you a monthly report.
Good Search Engine Marketing should not be seen as something that can cost as little as you can get it, it should be viewed as a long term relationship where the company chosen can get to understand your business its objectives and goals and work towards them by constantly refining the SEO campaign, monitoring keywords for traffic and conversions, changing keywords that might have a ranking but aren’t converting and overall growing the authority of your site to ultimately have thousands of longtail keywords driving visitors to your site.
Don’t forget a good SEO project manager should be qualified and have on-line marketing experience and you won’t get quality for £35 per month.
