Search Engine Optimisation is not a commodity

When working on the optimisation of your website it is tempting to think that the Search Engine Optimisation is a commodity that you don’t need to worry about or something that only needs a short burst of activity on.
However, implementing Search Engine Optimisation to your site and managing this on an ongoing basis is important for the success of your website and the ability for you to attract business to your company through your online marketing.
Since the birth of the internet the number of websites has grown almost exponentially numbering over 156 million websites available in January 2008. With this level of competition of the people searching the web, SEO becomes so much more important. As we recently reported the number of people searching using Google is increasing all the time, so getting yourself noticed on the Google searches is important to the success of your website.
If your SEO Company recommends that the Optimisation of your site could be done in a short term burst – with a one off job being done to achieve high rankings on your site – then you need to be wary. With so many sites out there and the ever changing algorithms on Google, Yahoo and MSN, unless your search engine optimisation is being managed and monitored on an ongoing basis that initial flurry of good rankings your SEO company has achieved for you will be eaten away. Within 6 months to a year there will be no benefit from the money you have spent.
A fully managed SEO service will mean that the regular monitoring and tweaks needed to make your site achieve and maintain rankings will be made and the improvement to your rankings and traffic to your site will be continued. Although the costs will be slightly higher for a managed service, being able to maintain your visibility on search engines long-term will pay dividends for your business.
