It's really great to see the level of coverage that "Web 2.0" is now getting. But what's it all about? There are some great references available, but probably one of the best is from Tim O'Reily called "What is Web 2.0"
We've been thinking about software as a service and using the internet as a platform (a couple of the Web 2.0 key principles) for a few years now.
Our campaign management system - Apollo - provides our clients with linking information directly to their websites via XML feeds, we provide numerous RSS feeds for clients to monitor our progress with their campaigns in "real time", and lots of other interactions with our clients through the publishing of web services.
We are also great consumers of web services - we are an international business and so use web services to get the latest exchange rates so that we can report in a single currency and we also look at host of campaign-related information such as geotargeting, ip data, shared hosting intelligence, link information, keyword analysis etc all by web services.
But - as we have always considered our software to be on the leading edge of search engine marketing campaign management, I think we can do more. This year will see a greater emphasis on integration with our clients and agency partners - we have a very scalable solution that gets even better as more people use it. One example is how we are working with a couple of agencies on integrating our reporting for their campaigns into their own internal, portal solutions (e.g. MS SharePoint, etc).
If you have been looking for a search marketing company that can integrate its technology into your own systems (and vice versa), please contact me at mhopkins@vertical-leap.net as I would like to learn more about what you need and when; it could be a lot of fun!
