We’re growing and in search of new office space. In my quest for new premises, I registered with a property portal for commercial property and actually requested to see one or two of the properties. I completed the online enquiry form and waited for my phone to ring. It never did. When I called the property agent directly a few days later, they said that they never received the emails. As he was using Outlook for his email, I suggested that he look in his Junk Email folder… and there I was.
We have a client that said he wasn’t getting any leads from his website despite the great success that we had achieved for his company. This was really puzzling as the rankings were solid, the traffic to the site was at an all time high, and the website was well-designed for conversion. Our team asked to be set up so that they received a BCC on the web lead emails as they were generated from their site so that we could track this ourselves. We instantly started to receive dozens of leads – all of which the client denied receiving. After a few scratches of our collective head, we asked him to check his Junk Email folder – and there they were - several weeks of leads.
Personally, I have my spam filtering set to “high” in Outlook as I like to keep my inbox as clean and spam-free as possible – but I do try and scan my Junk Email folder daily – just in case. Typically, there is usually at least one item in there that is not spam – a lead, a c.v. from talented SEO wanting to join our team, or a newsletter that I enjoy reading from one of our business partners.
