How often do Google Rankings change?

When you look at the SERPs in Google at any point of your SEO work you might be wondering how often do the Google Rankings change.

For the last year or so Google’s index has been in a state of “everflux” where rankings and positions in the SERPs can change all the time and our experience has proved this to be the case.  If you check your positions first thing in the morning and your website is 10th for a given keyword you might find that at checking at lunchtime you are now 4th for that keyword.

Google have been making some big changes to their algorithm recently which have lead to the UK results showing US sites and the forthcoming release of Google Caffeine will also constitute a bigger change than everflux.

So the answer to this question is that Google rankings can change all the time.  Having a well optimised website along with a solid link building campaign and ongoing monitoring of your SEO is a core element to ensuring that you don’t only just achieve these rankings as a one off but that they survive the test of time, and are rankings you will be able to maintain.  Working with a professional SEO company will help you to adapt to the changes that Google and the other search engines make as they will be able to help you get the most from changes like Google Caffeine.
