It’s just over a month since I began using Google’s Chrome browser instead of Firefox to do my daily search engine optimisation work and I thought I’d post an update on how it’s going. There are still a few things I’m using Firefox for but these are reducing all of the time.
I’m still finding Chrome much quicker than Firefox and the initial load speed when I open the browser, which when compared to IE8 and Firefox is really quick.
As I’ve been using Chrome for a month I’ve got used to the new extensions – below I’ve outlined those I’m using most when working.
SEO Site Tools – on page and Off Page optimisation overview tool, which is really useful when looking at the overall SEO status of a website you, are looking at.
Chrome Flags – Shows the country that a website is hosted in from the Address bar
Firebug Lite – shows a split screen of the HTML and actual website so you can examine elements of the source code
PageRank – shows the visible PageRank in the toolbar
IETab – shows the current website within an Internet Explorer Tab to save you having to open IE.
Numbered Google Results – this a new extension which shows numbers by the side of the SERPs in Google – similar to Grease Monkey in Firefox but works without scripts. This was a big one that I had been waiting for as what position something is in Google was one of the things I used to check in Firefox as I didn’t have to count!
Analytics Helper – displays a logo in the address bar when there is Google Analytics installed on a website
The main thing I’d like to see in Chrome now is a Rank Checking Tool such as SEO Book’s Rank Checker which is pretty much the only thing I’m doing in Firefox now.
