WARNING – Google Adwords Phishing Scam

There is a new scam email doing the rounds at the moment, which asks you to verify your Google Adwords account details.

In this case, simplicity is the key, and because it isn’t a bank or PayPal, it is perhaps more tempting to click, in which case you get redirected to google-xc.com.

This is a courtesy reminder that your Google AdWords account needs to be verified.

In order to receive uninterrupted service, please verify your information immediately.

To verify your account, please click the link below and proceed to the login page:

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account.

Sincerely, Google AdWords

As Adwords accounts may contain credit card details, this may be the target of this scam, or it may just be that they use your account details (and your Google credit) to set up dodgy adgroups with PPC ads directing you to their sites. Either way, this is something that you want to avoid.
