Advertisers able to access AdWords on the move

If you work at a PPC agency then the chances are you work with AdWords. The chances are that occasionally, you’ve also had the need to access a campaign when you’re outside the office or away from a desktop PC.

Google’s new mobile interface for Adwords aims to solve that particular problem. Whilst smartphone users can access the desktop version of AdWords via their smartphone browsers, according to Google many people find it difficult or unwieldy to use the interface in this format.

Available for Android, iPhone and Palm Pre devices, the interface provides a streamlined version of the desktop interface that can be accessed anywhere via your smartphone. Using the desktop version, users can customise which parts of their account they want to monitor closely; they can set up custom alerts for key account events and used saved filters to flag the most important keywords and campaigns.

“Over the past few months, many of you have let us know how much you’d like to have fast and easy mobile access to AdWords, which is why we’re now testing a streamlined mobile experience,” says Miles Johnson of the Inside Adwords crew in his announcement of the feature on the company blog. “Adwords for mobile gives you easy access to your key alerts and statistics, enabling you to make quick changes even when you’re out and about.”

“We built Adwords for mobile to help you quickly access the essentials in your account, so we’ve focused on letting you view and make basic edits to campaigns and keywords through the mobile application.”

Currently, AdWords for mobile is the default mobile interface for a small percentage of advertisers and is only available for English language users. Johnson says that Google plans to enable the feature for “additional advertisers and languages in the coming weeks,” but says that if you want to try it out in advance, you just need to visit the AdWords dashboard via your smartphone.
