Apple a ”valuable partner” according to Google

Despite reports of advancing problems between search engine marketing mogul Google and company of the Noughties Apple, a Google executive has described rival Apple as a ”valuable partner”, confirming that relations between the two companies are strong.

Reuters and ITProPortal are reporting that Vic Gundotra, chief of mobile engineering at Google, has announced that the two companies hope to generate a steady partnership for the future, saying: ”Apple is a very close and valuable partner and we’re very excited about the relationship we have with them today. We have no reason to believe that’s going to change”.

Despite stories of an Apple/Microsoft partnership with Microsoft’s search engine Bing to be the default search engine on Apple iPhone’s, Gundotra stated that Google had no comment on such rumours.

Nevertheless, it can be argued that both Google and Apple have strayed into each other’s domains recently, with Google launching its Nexus One smartphone and Apple acquiring Quattro Wireless, indicating a possible move into advertising. Indeed, in his recent statement, Gundotra was not forthcoming about whether Google had any more plans for a follow up to the Nexus smartphone.

ITProPortal comments on Google’s announcement by noting that ”Google knows that Apple could one day launch its own search engine” to become a big rival to its number one status.
