According to technology news sources, the Apple iPhone 4G is set to be launched at the company’s World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco today.
At approximately 6pm in UK time, CEO Steve Jobs is expected to unveil the latest generation in smartphone, with ITProPortal citing that Jobs could also launch a revamped Safari 5.0 and the iPhone 4.0 OS at the same event.
The latest iPhone is reported to have a more square aesthetic, with a longer battery life, increased storage space and an better camera. In addition, the handset is expected to have multi-tasking capabilities according to The Telegraph, giving a boost to content marketing specialists, whose apps can be run at the same time. Users could listen to music whilst also sending emails to friends or partaking in instant chat.
The launch of the iPhone 4G has been long awaited, with images of a prototype being unlawfully released on the web, after a security breach.
Geoff Blaber, an analyst at CCS Insight was cited in The Telegraph as commenting on the launch, saying: ”We’ll see the evolution of an established and hugely successful product rather than a revolutionary new device.”
Saying that Apple must ”continue improving” Blaber commented on Apple’s competitors, saying: ”It’s facing a barrage of competition that didn’t exist three years ago when the first iPhone was launched – Google’s Android platform is gaining in momentum and popularity and is an increasingly capable operating system.”
The new iPhone will utilise Apple’s mobile advertising tools, with the company hoping to rule the mobile content generation roost. Other rumoured announcements include a music streaming service, akin to Spotify.
Despite the success of the iPad and the anticipation of the iPhone 4G, Apple is not content to rest on its laurels, reportedly developing new products at an astounding rate.
