Facebook Timeline will become mandatory for all users in a matter of weeks.
An updated blog on the Facebook website has announced that the controversial update will become the default option for all Facebook members over the next few weeks.
Msnbc.com report that the rollout will begin in “a few smaller countries” before the whole of Facebook is switched over to the Timeline format. This indicates that the United Kingdom could well be one of the first countries posting social media content using the new system.
The exact date of the changes have not been revealed for any country. Users will have seven days from the rollout to alter their Timeline before it is made public to the rest of the world.
In a statement issued to allfacebook.com, a spokesperson from the social media website reassured users that they were still working on improving the update.
It said: “In the next few weeks, everyone will get Timeline. We know adjustments can be difficult, especially with something as personal as Facebook. Since Timeline became generally available late last year, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback.
“We will continue to listen and gather feedback as more people get Timeline so we know what’s working and what can still be improved.”
