Google to head search engine marketing with new ad campaign

Search engine giant Google, is looking to launch a new advertising campaign, to set itself ahead of search engine marketing by promoting its search facilities. The search engine has approached a number of UK creative agencies to ask for a successful pitch for the business, with the intention to flaunt its services centering around different themes and events.

Google is said to be looking to run an advertising campaign similar to how it did during the Superbowl in America last month. It has not yet decided on the specifics of the campaign, but one that builds on its ‘Parisian Love’ film is said to be one of the themes.

A spokesperson for the company says: “Google has begun approaching agencies to handle a new advertising campaign to promote its search facilities that will centre around different themes and events.”

Although there is speculation that Google will run a World Cup theme, they deny these claims and have not promised a new TV ad campaign either.

Google has only recently begun using above the line as an element of its marketing. Earlier this year, it paid particular attention to Chrome in a series of ads.

Google’s video firm YouTube yesterday said it has signed Brylcreem and Lebara Mobile to be the sponsors of its coverage of the IPL cricket tournament, which will air on the online video service for the first time.
