Search engine marketing company Google is set to launch a Cloud based printing solution according to industry experts.
The solution will enable users to print documents using their tablets, desktops and smartphones, negating the need for drivers. Surely coming – although perhaps unintentionally – as a welcome boost for those using the Apple iPad, which comes without printing support, the cloud modelled software will work with Google Chrome and other internet browsers.
ITProPortal reports that Google wanted to create a less driver intensive way of printing, based on the cloud system. Such a service would help new technology such as the iPad or iPhone that do not offer support for printer drivers.
Google Cloud Print will allow users of any device, be it a tablet or phone to print desired information on any printer, making the printing process far more simple. For such mobile devices, an app is to be released to allow users to send jobs to Google Cloud Print.
Whilst traditional printing has been on the decline as more people embrace reading on their tablets or phones, many people still prefer to digest content holding a hard copy in their hands.
Wired has announced that Google has ”released the code and documentation to developers” so we wait to see when the relevant app appears on screens.
Mike Jazayeri, group product manager for Google, was cited in ITProPortal as commenting: ”Since in Google Chrome OS all applications are web apps, we wanted to design a printing experience that would enable web apps to give users the full printing capabilities that native apps have today.”
