Internal links on sites are good use of SEO

Internal links used on websites is good use of search engine optimisation, according to an industry expert. Online marketing director Sam Tilson said including internal links on sites in strategies, is effective as well as the reputation of a brand.

The BBC recently decided to optimise its headlines, which means they will become longer and incorporate more keywords. Mr Tilson said that Google believes reputation to be a major factor in the world of search, he said: “Using basic SEO techniques on a website with a good reputation will only enhance that website’s search engine performance.”

He argued that the internet marketing service professionals for the BBC are going down the headline optimisation route in order to maintain its lead position, instead of having to catch up.

A recent study by Econsultancy and Guava showed that the BBC’s decision to increase their SEO campaigns, is part of a trend as more corporations are accepting that SEO is beneficial to their companies. It found that 48 per cent of respondents reported an increased return on investment from search engine optimisation in the past year.

Websites with interesting content, images and other supplements and internal links make sites more interesting and promote the website when optimised on search engines when appropriate adwords are used.
