Six new languages added to Google Analytics

1st February 2010 by William Hobson

An additional six languages have been added to Google Analytics, the free data tracking service that has become integral to SEO, search engine marketing companies and other online marketers.

Analytics is now available in Bulgarian, Catalan, Greek, Lithuanian, Slovak and Vietnamese. This is certain to help expand Google’s appeal to marketers looking to make use of the company’s hosted PPC display and search advertising services in these online markets.

Google Analytics is the most widely used website statistics service on the internet according to a report from W3Techs in December 2009. According to the site Backend battles, which compares the use of third-party tools on websites, Google Analytics is used by 3816 of the top 10,000 websites (38.16%).

Like many Google products, Analytics has an extensive support system which ranges from direct email, a discussion forum and an online directory of help topics. For professional services and paid services, such as a PPC agency, Google has also implemented a global partner network of Google Analytics Authorised Consultants (GAAC’s) that offer support for analytics in many different global regions and languages.

Currently analytics is available in a total of 31 languages. It’s popularity can be explained partly by this inclusive approach to national marketplaces and it’s level of support but is largely due to the tool’s versatility. As it is aimed at marketers rather than webmasters, it can track more than just traffic from unique visitors but also their point of origin – which referrer brought them to the site. This includes search engines, display advertising, PPC networks, email marketing campaigns and even digital collateral such as links embedded within PDF documents. This has made it incredibly useful to SEO companies, who can use it to track the effectiveness of keyword optimisation in reaching an audience.

It can also be incorporated with the company’s PPC search engine marketing system, Adwords, to review advertising campaigns by tracking a variety of conversions such as page views, lead generations, sales or other user actions.
