SEARCH MARKETING GUIDES

Welcome to our guides section, where you’ll find help and advice on a wide range of search marketing subjects

Why content marketing is integral to SEO

Content marketing is arguably one the most significant factors in how search marketing (in particular SEO) has evolved over the last few years.  With the major search engines attaching an increasing importance to high quality website content (as evidenced by Google’s Panda update, we’ve got a few blogs on this), it is clear that content marketing and SEO are nearly indistinguishable from one another.

Want to rank for a particular keyword? Then you need a page with some SEO friendly content.

What your latest writing or products to be found across the internet? Then you need to structure your website in such a way that your content is showcased properly to search engines.

This focus on what actually goes on a page means that those who work in both disciplines – the writer and the search engine optimisation operative – have had to learn the skills and considerations that are traditionally ascribed to the other. One of the great advantages that Vertical Leap has as a search marketing agency is that we have on staff experts in both content marketing and SEO ; there’s considerable knowledge sharing, and it allows us to give our customers an even better service, especially when contracted to delivery both SEO and content services.

The most obvious example of our combining SEO and Content is on our search marketing blog; we’ve written a number of articles on the subject, some of which we’ve listed here as a guide to getting the most out of your content and your website optimisation.

Firstly, we have some tips on the actual writing and how to make the most of it when you’ve pressed publish:

We’ve also got a piece on the continuing and increasing emphasis put by search engines on having great quality content – you can’t beat a great piece when it comes to generating links;

The changing face of the internet and the supremacy of content

As you’ll have doubtlessly noted, we talk about content a lot on the Vertical Leap Blog. It might seem curious that one of the key tenets of SEO can basically be boiled down to the phrase “If you write it, they will come”, but more or less, that’s how it is. Google, at its core, is trying to help people to find what they want. And make enough money to buy their own spaceship…read more

Finally, three quick tips on writing search friendly content:

How many times have you read  a chunk of copy on a web page and seen the same phrase repeated again and again? And again. And again…

When a phrase has been stuffed into copy, it just looks stupid. And if we  are put off by content that doesn’t read correctly, you can be sure that the search engine robots will be too. They may not be human, but their job is to find the best information for humans for specific searches…read more
